GREEN GIVEAWAY with Holland and Barrett

This month I am hosting my first ever giveaway! With St. Patrick’s Day just a few weeks away, I have teamed up with Holland and Barrett to give away a collection of their products, all with a GREEN theme!

Green Giveaway Holland and Barrett

Since returning to work I have been feeling a bit run down and we have had our fair share of illness in our house. So these items arrived for me at a very appropriate time! I have used everything I received as right now I need as much help as I can get with staying healthy and feeling good. And I also have one of each item to give to one of you! The giveaway contains:

  • Spirulina Powder – I have been adding this to smoothies! Spirulina is a natural algae and is great for boosting the immune system. It does have a slightly strange taste, but it’s not too bad. High in iron, protein, antioxidants and amino acids.
  • Green Tea Extract – These handy tablets are packed with anti oxidants and are perfect if you aren’t keen on actually drinking green tea. I’d rather drink normal tea and take these!
  • Wheat grass powder – This stuff contains just about everything healthy going! Again I have been adding this to smoothies but it can be added to plain water or juice.
  • Sea Kelp tablets – used for weight management but also great for hair and nails!
  • Apple Yoyo Bear – Harry loved this! it’s 100% pressed apple and pear, so great for babies.
  • Nakd Apple Pie Fruit, Nut & Oat Bar – handy and healthy snack I have stashed in the changing bag for emergencies.
  • Aloe Vera Gel – smells gorgeous and will be lovely in summer if any of us gets a little bit sunburnt! This stuff has loads of uses so will be really handy to have.
  • Hemp Oil Body Wash – a really invigorating smell which leaves my skin feeling squeaky clean.
  • Hemp Oil Intensive Hand & Nail Treatment – just want I need right now as my hands have been so dry!

Five Latest Loves #7 – GBBO, Make Up and Flip Flops included!

Summer is drawing to a close and there is a definite chill in the air. I am hoping for a hot September though – that would make up for a below par August we have just had. Although I love summer, Autumn does have it’s benefits, and I am quite looking forward to cosy nights in and the start of X Factor! I still love it!

Here’s my Five Latest Loves for this week!

The Great British Bake Off

Not very original I know. Like millions of others, I have watched every series of Bake Off and always look forward to it coming back on. Wednesday night’s episode was surprisingly dramatic, and the only Northern Irish contestant was sent home under controversial circumstances! I personally felt a bit sorry for Iain but when I checked it out on Twitter, Sue Perkins had commented that the show had been edited slightly to make it appear that Iain’s ice cream was out of the freezer for ages, when in fact it was about 40 seconds. Good TV though. I think I want Richard to win, but I do love Norman!

Real Techniques Expert Face Brush

I have been using this brush for a few days now to apply my foundation, and so far I love it! It’s a really firm and dense brush and is excellent for blending cream or liquid foundation evenly. I am a big fan and am glad I have made the switch from sponge to brush. I also love the Real Techniques Blush Brush – such good quality and brilliant for building up colour and blending.

iPANEMA Flip Flops

I was kindly sent these lovely white flip flops by iPANEMA in Beach White last week. Unfortunately the weather here in Northern Ireland hasn’t been the greatest for the past few weeks, and I don’t have any more holidays abroad planned, so instead I have been wearing these incredibly comfortable flip flops around the house, as it’s still not quite cold enough for slippers! They are so soft and spongy to wear and sort of mould to my feet when I put them on. They seem really durable so will I will definitely be bringing them on my next beach holiday! iPANEMA currently have a great range to choose from if you fancy checking it out! Size wise I got a size bigger than normal as I always find flip flops slightly smaller than other shoes. Mine are a size 5.

Max Factor Masterpiece Max Mascara

This isn’t really a latest love, as I’ve used it for years, but when my last tube ran out I bought a different brand, and it just didn’t match up. So I’m back on this excellent product from Max Factor in Brown/Black. It lengthens and thickens my lashes and NEVER clumps no matter how much I apply. It is honestly the best mascara I have ever used. Highly recommended!

Family get-togethers

I am spending this weekend in Ballycastle (again) with my extended family to celebrate my Uncle’s 50th Birthday. I love it when we all get together and really enjoy catching up with everyone. There is always loads of food so I’m looking forward to that too!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Review: L’Oreal Elvive Fibrology Thickening Shampoo and Conditioner

My hair is very fine and flyaway, and a bit on the thin side. It’s naturally straight, and gets a decent shine, so it’s not all bad. But when it comes to volume and thickness, it’s not that great.

Last week when looking for some new shampoo and conditioner, I came across the L’Oreal Elvive Fibrology  range.

LOreal Fibrology Review

The product information states that:

“A breakthrough in the science of hair, L’Oréal Laboratories have created L’Oreal Elvive Fibrology Thickening Shampoo, proven to give long-lasting thickness wash after wash. Hair looks & feels thicker, with visible body & bounce.”

The Fibrology range contains an ingredient called Filloxane, which penetrates deep into the hair fibre to create thickness by expanding.

I bought the shampoo and conditioner and have been using them every day for about 5 days now. The product smells nice and fresh, but has a slightly harsher, chemical like smell than most shampoos I use. After shampooing and conditioning every morning with both products I have seen a slight improvement in the thickness of my hair and it has remained shiny and feels light and very clean. I do think it has made my usually very slippery hair a little bit more manageable which is great.  It does not make my hair greasy but I have noticed it feeling slightly drier than normal. But this could be down to the weather perhaps?

LOreal Fibrology Review

Overall I am pleased with the products and it does say on the bottles that ‘hair feels thicker, wash after wash’ so maybe in the coming weeks I’ll see more of a difference! The range also includes a serum and a masque which would probably enhance the effects of the products. Let’s face it though, if you have fine hair, you have fine hair; it’s not the worst thing in the world!
